SCSE 24 Hour Hackathon

Overview

The School of Computer Science and Engineering are hosting a student-facing 24 hour hackathon, sponsored by PromptLee, and supported by the UKRI funded Get Into AI project.

Hackathons are like marathons. Some people go to compete, but most people take part to better themselves and have fun. Regardless of why you're at a hackathon, remember to uphold the spirit of the hackathon by collaborating with other teams, helping beginners, and enjoying yourself.

• Date: 11:00 AM, Friday 6th - 1:00 PM, Saturday 7th March 2026
• Venue: Pontio Arts and Innovation Centre, Da Vinci Co Lab, Deiniol Road, Bangor University

Provisional Schedule

This schedule is provisional and subject to change. More timings will be added closer to the event.

Friday 6th March

• 11:30 AM: Registration
• 12:00 PM: Briefing and team formation
• 12:30 PM: Lunch
• 3:00 PM: Skills Session (to be announced during the briefing) by Paul Kinlan from Google
• 6:00 PM: Dinner
• 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM: Big Idea Pitches

Saturday 7th March

• 12:00 AM: Midnight snack
• 3:00 AM - 5:00 AM: Night Shift Check-In
• 9:00 AM: Breakfast
• 11:00 AM: 3-minute pitches start
• 12:00 PM: Judging and lunch
• 13:30 PM: Awards ceremony and closing

What to bring

The Da Vinci Co Lab is a versatile space with University PC access, however we recommend that all attendees bring their own laptops or PCs with them, including chargers and any peripherals you might need.

Although all meals, food, and drinks will be provided free of charge throughout the event, you are welcome to bring additional food and drinks if you wish.

We also recommend you bring the following:

• Laptop and charger (we have 12 University PCs available)
• Peripherals, extra cables, and chargers (you can never be too prepared)
• Sleeping bag (if you want to nap on a bean bag)
• A pillow (always good to have)
• Spare clothes (you'll want to feel fresh for the presentations)

Do I need a team?

Hackathons are team events and we encourage you to form teams on the day rather than planning who you will be with beforehand. There will be a team-building session before the hacking begins which will give you the opportunity to meet other participants and form teams before we start. Teams will consist of 3 people.
